For some reason, these mega-excavators making a single-tile-deep cut on dirt that's only a single tile deep over bedrock look like they're taking handfuls out of a brownie pan.

Possibly worth note? That concrete paving is flat, and the cut is coplanar with it. The bricks are sloped up towards the digsite, and the terrain pattern continues in the grass (you can almost see it). I'm narrowing a ramp to make space for a new farm.
