User Content License Agreement

Effective Date: May 3, 2026

Introduction

When you upload content to the Community Hub for Captain of Industry (the "Hub", which includes our website, API, and any in-game integration with Captain of Industry that accesses Hub content), operated by Mafisoft Limited ("we", "us"), you grant two licenses:

1. A public license (CC BY 4.0) to the wider community, so others can use and build on your work.
2. A platform license to us, so we can host, display, and manage the Hub.

This license applies to creative content (blueprints, maps, and similar creative works). Mods are governed by the Modding Policy instead. This page explains both licenses below.

Public license: CC BY 4.0

By uploading content to the Hub, you license that content to the public under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0). This means anyone can freely use, modify, and redistribute the content, provided they give you appropriate credit. This helps to foster a collaborative and creative community.

How attribution works on the Hub:

• Your username is displayed alongside your content.
• If someone modifies your content and re-uploads it to the Hub or distributes it elsewhere, they must credit you in the description.

External use (videos, streams, screenshots):

For content used in videos, livestreams, or similar formats where embedding attribution is impractical, attribution is recommended but not required. We encourage creators to credit original authors where they reasonably can.

Platform license

You also grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, distribute, display, and process your uploaded content for the purposes of operating the Hub and promoting Captain of Industry and the Hub itself. This includes:

• Storing copies on our servers and content delivery networks
• Generating thumbnails, previews, and search indexes
• Running automated and manual checks (e.g., for malware, policy violations, or technical validity)
• Displaying your content on the Hub and in related promotional contexts (e.g., featuring popular content on our website or social channels)
• Removing or restricting access to content that violates our policies or applicable law

This license lasts as long as your content is on the Hub. If you delete your content, this license ends, except for backup copies retained for a reasonable period and copies already redistributed by third parties under the CC BY 4.0 license above.

Your warranties

By uploading content, you confirm that:

• You are the original author, or you have all the rights necessary to license the content under both licenses above.
• Your content does not infringe anyone else's intellectual property rights (including copyrights, trademarks, and assets from other games or media).
• Your content does not contain malicious code, malware, or anything designed to harm users or systems.
• Your content does not violate any applicable law or our Modding Policy, Terms of Service, or other published rules.

Account deletion and content survival

If you delete your account, your uploaded content remains on the Hub under the CC BY 4.0 license but is reattributed to "Deleted User." If you want your content removed, delete it before closing your account. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Removal

We may remove or restrict access to content that violates this agreement, our other policies, or applicable law. Where reasonable, we'll let you know why.
