Terms of Service

1. Welcome

The Community Hub for Captain of Industry (the "Hub", which includes hub.coigame.com, our API, and any in-game integration that accesses Hub content) is operated by Mafisoft Limited ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales (company no. 13290473).

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your use of the Hub. By creating an account or using the Hub, you agree to these Terms.

If you don't agree, please don't use the Hub.

2. What the Hub is

The Hub lets you browse and download blueprints, maps, and mods for Captain of Industry. With an account, you can also upload your own creations, vote and comment, post on the forum, contribute to translations, and submit suggestions.

3. Your account

One account per person. You may not create multiple accounts. If your account is suspended or banned, you may not create a new one to evade that.

You're responsible for your account. Keep your email secure. Don't share your account. You're responsible for everything done through your account.

Age. You must be at least 13 to create an account. If you're between 13 and 16, you confirm you have your parent or guardian's permission, where required by your country's laws.

Usernames. Pick a name that:

• Doesn't impersonate our staff, moderators, or other users
• Isn't offensive, harassing, or designed to evade moderation
• Doesn't suggest official endorsement (e.g., "OfficialMod", "Admin", "MaFi_Staff")

We may rename or reclaim usernames that violate these rules.

4. Community guidelines

Hub is the place where people can share creations, swap ideas, and help each other. Keep these in mind:

Be kind. Assume good intent. Disagree with ideas, not people. Constructive criticism is welcome; personal attacks are not.

Keep it Safe For Work. No sexual, explicit, violent, or disturbing content. No content that discriminates against or targets people based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or similar characteristics.

Don't harass. No targeted harassment, doxxing, threats, or persistent unwelcome contact.

No spam or off-topic promotion. Don't post low-effort content or repeated posts. Promoting your own COI-related YouTube, Twitch, or Discord is fine in context. Promoting unrelated stuff is not.

No leaks or piracy. Don't share unreleased game content, cracked versions of the game, or pirated software of any kind. Don't discuss how to obtain them.

No illegal content or activity. Don't post content that's illegal where you live, where you're posting from, or where the Hub operates.

No malware or exploits. Don't upload anything designed to harm users, their systems, or our service.

Use appropriate channels. Forum posts in the forum, comments on content pages, bug reports where bug reports go.

5. Your content

Anything you upload or post on the Hub is your content. This includes blueprints, maps, mods, comments, forum posts, ratings, and translations. Different licenses apply depending on what type:

• Blueprints, maps, and similar creative works are governed by our User Content License (CC BY 4.0 + platform license).
• Mods are governed by our Modding Policy (Section 9 covers Hub uploads).
• Forum posts, comments, suggestions, translations, and other contributions are covered by Section 6 below.

In all cases, you confirm you have the right to post what you post, and you're responsible for what you post.

6. Feedback, suggestions, and Hub contributions

6.1 Posts and contributions stay on the Hub

You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, display, distribute, and process your forum posts, comments, ratings, and other Hub contributions for the purposes of operating the Hub. Other users can read, quote, and interact with your contributions.

6.2 Translations

When you contribute a translation through the Hub's translation system, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, fully-paid, sublicensable, transferable license to use, reproduce, modify, combine with other translations, and distribute your translation as part of Captain of Industry, related products, marketing materials, and the Hub. You retain ownership of your contribution but waive, to the extent permitted by law, any moral rights in it.

We may credit translators in the game or on the Hub, but we're not required to attribute individual contributions in any specific way.

6.3 Ideas, suggestions, and feedback

When you suggest features, share tutorials or strategies, post bug reports, or otherwise share ideas, suggestions, or feedback on the Hub or directly with us through any channel, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, fully-paid, sublicensable, transferable license to use those ideas, suggestions, concepts, naming, designs, mechanics, or feedback for any purpose, including incorporating them into Captain of Industry or other our products, without obligation of compensation, attribution, or accounting.

You waive, to the extent permitted by law, any moral rights in such ideas, suggestions, and feedback.

To remove any doubt: game features, mechanics, gameplay concepts, settings recommendations, naming conventions, and similar ideas are generally not protectable by copyright. This Section confirms that you're not asserting such rights against us when you share these things publicly with the community.

7. Moderation and enforcement

We may, at our discretion:

• Edit, remove, or hide content that violates these Terms or our other policies
• Issue warnings, restrict features, or temporarily suspend accounts
• Permanently ban accounts for repeated or serious violations
• Take any action we reasonably consider necessary to protect the Hub and its users

Appeals. If you think we've made a mistake, email support@coigame.com. We'll consider appeals in good faith, though our decision is final.

No obligation to moderate proactively. We don't pre-screen all content. The presence of content on the Hub doesn't mean we've reviewed or endorsed it.

8. Service availability and changes

The Hub is provided as-is and as-available. We may:

• Modify, add, remove, or discontinue features at any time, with or without notice
• Take the Hub offline for maintenance, updates, or any other reason
• Change these Terms (see Section 13)

We will make reasonable efforts to communicate significant changes when practical, but we may make changes without notice.

9. Termination

You can stop using the Hub at any time and delete your account through your account settings. Account deletion is governed by our Privacy Policy.

We can terminate or suspend your account if you violate these Terms, our other policies, or applicable law. We may also terminate accounts that have been inactive for an extended period, or if we discontinue the Hub entirely.

10. Disclaimers

THE HUB IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

You use the Hub at your own risk. We don't create user content, and we don't endorse it.

You download and run user content at your own risk. This includes mods, which can execute code on your system. Even though we run some checks for malware and policy violations, no scanning is perfect. You should:

• Download mods only from authors you trust
• Keep backups of your save files

We are not responsible for harm caused by user content, including malware, data loss, save corruption, system damage, or claims that user content infringes someone else's rights. If user content causes you harm, your remedy is against the user who uploaded it, not against us.

If you encounter content that appears malicious, infringing, or otherwise harmful, please report it via the report button on the content's page or by emailing support@coigame.com.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Mafisoft Limited and its owners, employees, and affiliates from any third-party claims arising out of (a) your breach of these Terms, (b) content you post on the Hub, or (c) your violation of any law or third-party right.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version is always available on this page. Continued use of the Hub after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

If a dispute arises under these Terms or in connection with the Hub, the parties agree to first try to resolve it informally and in good faith. You may contact us at support@coigame.com.

If the dispute cannot be resolved informally, any lawsuit or court proceeding arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Hub must be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Santa Clara County, California, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have under mandatory consumer protection laws that apply where you live, or our right to seek injunctive or other equitable relief for misuse of the Hub, our services, our intellectual property, or security-related issues.

15. General

Severability. If any part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.

No waiver. If we don't enforce a right immediately, we haven't waived it.

Assignment. You can't assign these Terms. We can.

Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, User Content License, and Modding Policy, are the complete agreement between you and us about the Hub.
