This guide shows how to set up a train line to move cargo between two points. The next tutorial will expand on this by adding multiple trains to scale-up your train network.
Open <b>{0}</b> → <b>{1}</b> and place a <b>train station module</b> at the loading site. Pick the module that matches the product you want to move, for example <b>{2}</b> for bulk materials.
Do the same at the unloading site: Build module and station, assign product to the module (1), and set it to <b>{0}</b> mode (2). A small arrow on each module shows the products flow direction.
Attach a <b>fuel-station module</b> (diesel or steam) to either station so the locomotive tops up while it is at the station. Don’t forget to connect the module to a fuel storage.
Select the <b>{0}</b> tool and build one continuous track between the two stations. If terrain is in the way, use the elevation tools (see the toolbox at the bottom-right).
Extend the track past each station by at least twice the station’s length. The extra space lets the locomotive clear the module to align wagons to the module.
Train tracks in Captain of Industry are directional. Select the <b>{0}</b> tool, ensure that all tracks are bi-directional, except the ones coming into the depot, which should match the depot's direction.
For optimal operation, set the departure rule at the loading station to <b>wait until full</b> (3) and at the unloading station to <b>wait until empty</b> (4).
