Early set turnaround stations
Description
Early set of turnaround stations
v1.2 - fixed Level crossings after patches, slightly improved terminal stations to prevent train slowdown during turnaround.
This set for early game includes central stations with varying numbers of stops and terminal stations with a single stop, all featuring train turnaround capability at the exit. In the early game, cargo flow is still limited, so a station’s ability to handle a diverse range of resources is more important than strict specialization. At the same time, their size should be sufficient to perform their functions but not be excessive, keeping costs reasonable. It is also important that the station does not significantly obstruct truck movement.
Tip: A convenient two-stop station to kickstart railway development, with an easy upgrade path to four stops as demands increase.
Module configurations for stations can be arbitrary. Here, they are shown only as examples. However, it is clear that a liquid module will always be needed to send fuel to mining areas, so trucks don’t have to travel across half the map just to refuel. Most modules will still be for loose materials. Funny enough, with this approach, even the train refueling module can be removed to the terminal station, freeing up space at the central station to be used for unloading other resources instead.
The central station connects to a main double-track line. Terminal stations can connect to this main line using either single- or double-track links, depending on the expected traffic — a single train does not require a double track.
Note: With this approach, trains can never wait for resources at the central station — they can only do so at the terminal stations. The central station should always be a pass-through, where trains stop only for unloading or loading.
Procedure for converting a 2-stop station into a 4-stop station:
- Remove the Level crossings.
- Overlay the blueprint of the 4-stop station directly on top of the existing 2-stop station, aligning it so that the station buildings match exactly.
If you align it precisely, all missing elements will be inserted correctly.
