Description

Kayser's Compact Refinery - The Most Compact and Efficient Refinery

  • Advanced multi-purpose, multi-stage refinery, including perfectly balanced Sour Water stripping, Sulfur processing, Fertilizer II, Acid, Hydrogen (H2), and Ammonia (NH3) production.
  • Highly efficient in terms of space, construction cost, workers, and maintenance.
  • Sulfur import/export capabilities, including possibility to convert any excess sulfur to slag.
  • Easily accessible input/output storages for buffering, alerts, and easy mapping/connection of external transports.
  • Interconnected exhausts for easy connection of exhaust filtration.
  • Stage blueprints for smooth incremental expansion, including tanks for temporary storage of Waste Water, Sour Water, Light Oil, and NH3.
  • UPDATED: Added Acid Mixer.
  • UPDATED: Removed dependency on Pipe III.

Technical Features:

  • Dual boiler with steam source selector for smooth transition from solid fuel to gas, and choice of primary boiler.
  • Gas boiler fuel selector for choice of primary fuel for gas boiler: Heavy Oil, Naphtha/Fuel Gas, and/or Light Oil.
  • Air Separator, Chem Plant and Mixer for Fertilizer II production. Can also make Slag from excess Sulfur.
  • Mixer for Acid production. Can also make Slag from excess Sulfur.
  • Hydrogen Reformer for utility Hydrogen Gas production (NH3, Gas Kilns, Silicon)
  • NH3 Hub and Chem Plant to boost Fertilizer production or export NH3 for use in e.g. Medical Supplies.

Input/Output (at full capacity):

  • 208 Crude Oil makes 0-24 Heavy Oil, 144 Diesel, 40-48 Naphtha, 60-72 Fuel Gas, 84 Fertilizer II, 0-72 Acid, and 0-42 H2.
  • Additional needs: 75 Water (net); 12 Limestone; 6-30 Coal (or corresponding amount of other solid fuel).
  • Bi-products that require removal: 0-12 Sulfur (or 0-6 Slag; total volume depends on Acid consumption)
  • Bi-products vented to atmosphere: 36-108 CO2 and 6-108 exhaust (depending on fuel choice); 24 N2.
  • Need more capacity? Just use a second copy of the refinery. Recommended placement is to mirror ('F') and place the second copy so that the Hydrogen Reforemers face each other. This way all the inputs and outputs are fairly close to each other and should be easy to connect.

General Usage:

  • Complete Refinery is "plug-and-play" ready.
  • All storages are preset for truck import/export. Connect pipes and belts as desired.
  • Set your preferred fuel for the gas boiler in the Gas Boiler Fuel Selector (behind the gas boiler). Heavy Oil priority is the default.
  • Set your prioritized boiler (gas or solid) in the Steam Source Selector (behind the boilers, partially concealed). Gas Boiler priority is the default.
  • Enable Slag production in both Mixers if desired. Change the Sulfur storage to import if you also want to import Sulfur to produce slag. Be aware, however, that running empty on Sulfur can cause Fertilizer I to back up and cause the whole refinery to stop.
  • If using stage blueprints, place subsequent blueprint superimposed over existing build (recommended in planning mode). See detailed stage information below.
Stage Description Technology Required Prerequisites Instructions Other Notes
1 Basic Destiller without coal belt Basic Diesel Clear a large enough area. Pipe connectors mark the area required by the full refinery. Until the next step is built, ensure the Basic Distiller is supplied with coal by truck. Storages are normaly downgraded.
2 Coal belt + Preparation for Advanced Diesel Conveyor Belts - Build the two sections of belt leading from the coal storage to the basic destiller. Build the rest to prepare for the next stage. Tanks are normally downgraded.
3 Distillation I+II + Coal Boiler + Light Oil and Sour Water tanks (optional) + Preparation for Gas Boiler Advanced Diesel, Pipes II (Recommended) - Build the Coal Boiler and either one of the Distillation I + II pairs. Build the tanks and pipes for sour water and light oil or ensure these products are transported away somehow. Build the other pair of Distillation I + II when/if needed (upgrade pipes as needed). Build the rest to prepare for the next stage. Pipes will be downgraded unless you have already researched Pipes II. These will need to be upgraded later for full capacity.
4 Gas Boiler + Preparation for Sour Water treatment Gas Combustion - Build the Gas Boiler. Build the rest to prepare for the next stage. Storages will be downgraded if you haven't researched Storage II.
5 Sour Water treatment + preparation for fertilizer Sulfur Processing - Build one or both of the Sour Water Strippers. Build the NH3 tank if you want to use it and/or ensure NH3 is transported away somehow. Build the rest to prepare for the next stage. If you have a lot of Sour water to treat in this stage, water from the Sour Water Strippers may clog the Water pipes. If this happens, drain some water and/or slow down Sour water treatment.
6 Fertilizer II + Acid + preparation for Distillation III Fertilizers Remove the Basic Destillery, its adjecent coal belt and pipes. Build the Chemical Plant, Air Separator, and Mixers to start Fertilizer II and Acid production. Build the rest to prepare for the next stage. -
7 Distillation III + preparation for hydrogen Naphtha Processing Remove the Sour Water tank and its adjacent pipes. Remove the pipes from Distillation II to the Light Oil tank. Build the Distillation IIIs to start Naphtha and Fuel Gas production. Adjust the gas boiler fuel selector balancer if you want to burn more Naphtha and/or Fuel Gas. -
8 Hydrogen + Fertilizer boosting Hydrogen Production Remove the NH3 tank and the Light Oil tank as well as their adjacent pipes. Build the remaining Distillation I+II+IIIs to complete the refinery. Build the Hydrogen Reformer to start hydrogen production. Build the second Chemical Plant if/when you want extra NH3 for even more Fertilizer II or Medical Products. Pipes may need to be upgraded if they were downgraded in earlier stages: Crude oil and Diesel (if using more than 1 distillation row), Sour Water, Fuel Gas, and Fertilizer II (if using all distillation rows). Water to boilers for the boiler priority to work effectively. Mixer II and Chemical Plant II upgrades are required to run more than two rows of distillation without producing excess NH3.
* Additional upgrades (no blueprint provided) Mixer II, Chemical Plant II, Electric Boiler - Upgrade the mixers and fertilizer plant when possible. If you want to eliminate the need to supply solid fuel or burn petroleum products, the boiler or gas boiler can be replaced with an electric boiler. If you want to replace both the solid boiler and the gas boiler, a total of three electric boilers are required.

Enjoy your petroleum products (and beware of global warming)!

not bad but i have problems with excess products i think this need second version where there is no outputs or just to make on type of fuel this block is nice but i think this need version where we have lower naphta out ( only for plastic),and rubber, and rest for heavy oil is to much left maybe on start is good but when you have hydrogen better use it all to production and dont left anything.
