High-Speed Cloverleaf
Description
2-track cloverleaf, can be easily integrated into a 4-track system at the entry-exit points. Designed to be a high-throughput interchange at the core of a network.
All slopes are 12%, all curves are 30 radius. Right hand turns allow trains of over 200 length to be between merge points. Tracks are laid out for right hand drive.
Merge points are designed such that trains which are making a turn exit the line before new trains merge onto it. Standard cloverleafs create conflict points in the middle of the interchange with exiting & entering trains both conflicting, with the middle sections between these merge points having higher traffic levels and becoming the bottleneck.
