🧑‍🔧 Kayser's Vehicles & Maintenance

🚚 Maintain Your Drive — Maintain with Kayser

Current as of: v0.8.3 (Update 4)

Currently (April 1st, 2026), latest BP update is on Experimental branch of CoI. You must be on the experimental branch of CoI to use the latest BP until version 0.8.3 (Update 4.1) is released as main branch.

📖 Description

Kayser’s Vehicles & Maintenance is a compact, efficient, and versatile blueprint that keeps your settlement rolling — delivering all your maintenance and vehicles from one streamlined plant with automatic production balancing. Why build two or three separate facilities when you can have it all, smarter and smaller?

At its core, the design combines three powerful modules, featuring high-capacity Liftbus™ systems and solutions that go beyond simple ratios.

Maintenance Depots are supplied by a constant mix of products, enough to supply up to 24 depots of any type in any order. Unused parts are automatically recycled back into the bus with priority. Start small, expand as needed — upgrading from 8 to 16 to 24 depots is as simple as moving a few lifts.

Vehicle Depots feature a smart multifuel supply that feeds both Diesel and Hydrogen simultaneously, so you can build any vehicle type without fiddly manual switches or truck deliveries. The blueprints even come with paint markings to help plan seamless upgrades from Depot II to Depot III.

Parts Assembly drives it all, with up to 24 independent assemblers producing Mechanical Parts, Vehicle Parts, and Electronics I, II, and III. Assemblers are fully flexible — build, pause, or upgrade them individually to match demand. The plant can even supply surplus goods to your settlement for repairs, upgrades, contracts, quick trades, trains, and rocket depot construction. Mechanical Parts can be made from Steel or Iron, with a built-in balancer to set your preference.

The result: a single, expandable, high-performance facility that keeps your fleet maintained, builds your next generation of vehicles, and stocks your settlement with extra essentials — all while staying compact, efficient, and easy to integrate.

⚡ Quick Start Guide

Research Conveyor Lifts and Smart Conveyor Routing.

Start small by activating as many Maintenance Depots and Assemblers you need, then expand as your settlement grows. When things are rolling, transition in a controlled manner and dismantle your legacy maintenance. The Liftbus™ systems automatically balances inputs, recycles unused parts, and keeps everything flowing smoothly. Alarms for low stock is recommended, to catch shortages as early as possible.

Scale Maintenance with new depots up to 8 and then with new blocks from 8 → 16 → 24 depots when needed.

Build vehicles with multifuel depots that handle Diesel and Hydrogen at the same time. Connect the necessary goods from the Parts Assembly.

Use the Parts Assembly to supply both the other modules and stockpile extras like Mechanical Parts, and Electronics I–III. Connect your auxiliarry belts on top to leave the outbound storages accessible to trucks. All the intakes are on the short side with the exception of rubber, which is on a side (feed into lift's bottom connector).

See the blueprint Full Plant Example for an example on how to connect the modules. A more elaborate description of each module is given further down.

Note: rates specified are MAXIMUM rates, meaning the rate consumed or produced when the plant is set to focus on a single goods. When the plant is producing mixed goods, which is the intent, input/outputs will generally be lower. The AS5 version has double total production capacity vs. the AS4, meaning it can support higher simultaneous production of different parts, which is required to support a high amount of e.g. maintenance depots. Full Plant Example figures include full production from 24 maintenance depots.

Module Descriptions

🔧 Maintenance Depots

The Maintenance Depots in Kayser's Vehicles & Maintenance are arrays supplied by high capacity Liftbus™. The system provides a constant mix of products on the belt, which is sufficient to supply 24 maintenance depots of any kind, in any order. Unused parts are sorted and recycled onto the bus with priority.

It is intended to be built incrementally, with just so many maintenance depots built as required to meet maintenance demands. Note that the Liftbus must always form a closed loop.

8xMD can easily be upgraded to 16xMD and subsequently 24xMD by removing the row of lifts on the back.

The Maintenance Depots are intended to be used together with the Parts Assembly in Kayser's Vehicles & Maintenance, but can also be used standalone as a versatile, expandable maintenance hub.

🚚 Vehicle Depots

The Vehicle Depots in Kayser's Vehicles & Maintenance are equipped with a multifuel supply, which automatically supplies both Diesel and Hydrogen to the depots. This allows both vehicle types to be built interchangably without the need to manually switch the fuel supply or rely on truck deliveries for one of the fuels.

Because they are designed to be used together with the Parts Assembly in Kayser's Vehicles & Maintenance, they do not come with any other goods storage or assembly.

The blueprint for Vehicle Depot II has paint, which shows the area required for the subsequent Vehicle Depot III upgrade. It also has paint showing the flat goods input spots, which helps plan for an eventual upgrade to Vehicle Depot III.

The Vehicle Depots are intended to be used together with the Parts Assembly in Kayser's Vehicles & Maintenance, but can also be used standalone as versatile, upgradable vehicle depots.

🪛 Parts Assembly

The Parts Assembly in Kayser's Vehicles & Maintenance is designed to supply both the Vehicle Depots and the Maintenance Depots with all the necessary goods.

In addition, it can supply your settlement with surplus Mechanical Parts, Electronics I, II, and III for repairs and upgrades, as well as Vehicle Parts for trains, contracts, and quick trades.

The plant features up to 24 assemblers and is supplied by a high-capacity Liftbus™ with overflow and jam protection. Desired minimum and maximum levels of stock available to trucks can be set with the blue and yellow sliders respectively on the outbound storages.

The assemblers are intended to be built incrementally, with just so many constructed as required by the demand. All assemblers have all the recipes, are independent from each other, and as such can be built, upgraded, paused, etc. individually as desired. Note that if AS3 is upgraded to AS4 or AS5 manually, the Electronics III recipe must be manually added. Note also that the Liftbus™ must always form a closed loop.

You might want to route outbound Vehicle Parts II to a nearby Train Depot (not included). The plant will adjust to meet the demand.

The plant is capable of making Mechanical Parts from both Steel and Iron, and provides a balancer to set desired priority (Steel priority is the default).

The assembly part isn't working. Firstly, the recipes are missing, and secondly, when I add them myself, it almost exclusively produces mechanical parts until everything gets clogged up.
I'm having the same issue. The Liftbus gets clogged (with vehicle parts in my case). The only way to fix it, is to free it up by removing the items manually every few minutes.
It’s not easy to fix unless you can tell me how it clogs. I’d be happy to take a look at your saves. Ping me in the CoI Discord.
I'm having the same issue with the Parts Assembly. I've got the first row of six assemblers running. Initially it was clogging early on and it struggled to produce VP3 because the Steel was always used to produce Mech Parts first. So I tried to resolve it by changing the recipe order with VP3 first, then VP2/1 and Elec/Mech. However, that still didn't resolve it. When the export limit for VP1/2/3 is reached, is seems to stop some higher requirement items hitting the lift loop (like Glass), but there is always Iron/Steel on the bus and so it makes Mech Parts forever until the bus it full off them - that happens when you reach the 'stop importing' limit set on the edge box (or when it fills) as there's nowhere for them to go. To try to fix that, I removed the Steel mech parts recipe, but then it just continued with Iron. I then paused the Iron box input and the belt filled with steel so nothing could be produced. It is a great design, but once there is no demand elsewhere in the factory and the export boxes fill or hit their limits, it gets out of step and fills the loop up, which you either have to remove manually or using filters - I have a long loop belt 100 long around the outside that I unpause to see what's in the loop, then just 'quick remove' it a few times.
Just wanted to chime in and confirm that the previous comments are true for me. The liftbus is clogging and assemblers are choking off and not letting mechanical parts through to the maintenance for me. It did work for a while until I added parts for E2 and then it died. Not sure if its related. I do gotta say though, I love your blueprints!
The problem seems to be that the filter blocking the iron/steel for the MP is not working properly. As soon as MP are let into the out storage, an unspecified amount of iron/steel is let into the loop. Thus iron/steel accumulates in the loop ever increasing MP production, even if they are not needed. Howver, I must admit that this is just an idea I had when taking the thing apart. (You know - want to find out how a watch works? Smash it with a big hammer and inverstigate the parts.) On the other hand I agree, your blueprints are the best I have used so far.

Updated to fix an issue that could cause PCB to overflow and block production. Also added a low-tech (T1) parts assembly. If there is still a problem with Mechanical Parts after this fix, let me know.
string is broken after the update...cannot be imported
Yes, use version 2, update your game to experimental branch, or wait for the experimental branch to be released as main.
Could you tell what the fix is for the mechanical part/pcb overproduction?
Best way to ensure MP doesn’t back up is to connect an auxiliary consumer of MP, that constantly consumes a little MP. Slowing down iron/steel feed can also help. For PCB the issue can be quick-fixed in version 2 by downgrading the single belt segment of belt that feeds PCB ingredients before merging with the finished PCB.
